A 'Where To Next' Working Week !!
Heck...a whole week has passed since my last blog. The internet connections have been dire to say the least but we have been in the middle of nowhere.
Since I babbled to you all last Saturday we were on our way to Bonavista but we had to stop because it was so cold. Well, we got to Bonavista/Elliston to see Puffins. Did we see any ?....yes 3 ...... 'Tom, Dick and Harry' !!! ....... there is still too much ice about for them at the moment so we were lucky to see that many. Onwards we went to Cape Spear, the most Easterly point of Newfoundland ? ... Canada ? ... or North America ? ...... depends on your point of view.
From there we headed for St Barbe. This meant riding 588 miles to the Western side of Newfoundland. We split this into two days so we could enjoy the scenery a bit. On arrival at St Barbe we booked into the Dockside Motel. Wilhelmena, the receptionist also rode a Harley so she let us have a whole cabin to ourselves instead of a room ( for the same price...yey) and also kindly secured our booking on the ferry for us. The ferry was late coming in but as some of you may have seen the 'Icebreaking Ferry Crossing' clip you will have realised that this was due to the amount of ice that is still around up here. Visibility was so poor on the crossing we couldn't even see the Ice Breaking boat leading the way and definitely no chance of doing any whale watching.
We arrived in Blanc Sablon about 2 1/2 hrs over due but as we'd refueled and bought camping provisions in St Barbe we were prepared for our next bit of adventure .....
The Trans Labrador Highway ... approx. 736 miles of wilderness riding ....we're still riding it ... nearly finished .... zzzzz .... bedtime. Nighty, nighty.
