Burning The Midnight Oil...
Hurray..... Internet.....I have just awoken from a limited nights sleep after trying to get stuff onto the website.... still not successful after 5 hours of trying but I did get some things into my storage page ready for loading by 0300.
We survived The Trans Labrador Highway, an 'Epic Mini Adventure', I'll be doing a separate write up on that one. After that we then rode the 389 down to Quebec....yet another naughty gravel road....not much they said.....120 miles later.
Not to worry, we got to practice our 'best French' throughout Quebec and eventually after staying in various motels we made it down to Niagra Falls......and guess what....the sun came out...fab.
Stayed on a KOA Campsite 3 miles from the falls. The Falls were impressive to say the least. We walked down to them, which is apparently a strange thing to do.....they don't 'walk' around here. The best thing about being at the Falls at this time of year was that they were in full force after all the rain and although there were people there, it was not swamped with tourists so we didn't struggle to see. If you have not seen Niagra Falls and visit Canada, they are worth a visit.
After leaving Niagra we headed over to Fenelon Falls to stay with my Canadian Family for the weekend.
And...... what a fabulous weekend we had, staying in my family's cottage by the lake ( Cameron Lake). It's so beautiful here. We went on pontoon boat rides, kayaking, tours round town, visited a 'Settlers Day' and were truly looked after.....I felt so at home xx One of the highlights of the weekend was Chris taking Verna (just one of my fabulous Great Aunts) who's 89 by the way, on her first motorcycle ride......awesome xx
Sadly we had to leave Fenelon Falls but we left with fond memories, hand made socks for when we get to the 'Yukon' and cake. A massive 'Thank You' to Carol and Larry Milroy, Candy, Daniel, Edie, Zoe, Marilyn, Bob, Anderson, Joan, Doreen and Verna, not forgetting Rick and Geoff. We had a wonderful time xxxx
So now we're on our way to Winnipeg and hopefully we'll be catching up with a new friend, another biker we met on the ferry to Newfoundland.
