Fur 'n' Feather at Fish Creek
Now then...where did I leave you...oh yes on the road near Dease Lake. After that we made our way down to Hyder, Alaska just off the Stewart-Cassiar Highway.
What a fabulous little place. We camped at a small campsite, Camp Run-A-Muck in Hyder. 'We've had a bear on site' the owner said, 'Don't forget to put your food away. 'To get here you have to cross the border from Canada obviously.....makes shopping interesting though.....the grocery store was in Stewart, Canada and the campsite just down the road in Alaska.....passports please.....even for a can of coke.
Once camped up and finished eating and locking food away we sussed out where things were and slept. Next day we were ready for action and were up and away in search of bears.
Our first visit to Fish Creek we saw mainly different kinds of birds, salmon swimming upstream and an Alaskan Marmot. After several hours we decided to go for a ride up the Salmon Glacier....wow, awesome little drive.....hardly any tourists up there.
Returning to Fish Creek about tea time, patience had held out, we were in luck, a bear had come to catch his tea, amazing viewing. Check it out ....click on link....Bear catching salmon.
