Bear Tooth Pass......Where ???
So we moved on, on Monday 14th August, to ride Bear Tooth Pass on our way through to Yellowstone but hey....once again the blasted weather let us down. Bear Tooth Pass...which I'd been looking forwards to.....couldn't see for freezing fog, rain so cutting it stung my face to bits.....my boots filled up with water and my feet were like blocks of ice......I ended up riding the whole thing with my hazard winkies on......could'nt even see Chris in front.....very scary when you can't see the barriers for the edge of the road !!!!
After what seemed like.....well....forever.....we dropped down into Cooke City where we refuelled and stood in a garage drinking hot chocolate ....like a pair of drowned rats....the attendant didn't seem to mind.....even me leaving puddles on his floor.
Feeling a bit warmer we left Cooke City and rode down to the North East entrance of Yellowstone. Once inside the park our damp and miserable spirits were soon lifted...........the sun came out, we must have been steaming riding along..........but then......wowser........some traffic had stopped ahead.........and what a fabulous sight......a lone Black Wolf was walking towards a river where a buffalo carcass lay. We immediately forgot about our bedraggled status and couldn't take our eyes off the wolf. It looked like an old one and seemed to struggle to tuck into the buffalo. It was tagged as well.......still fascinating to watch.
It was hard to move on but we needed to get to our campsite and get out of the wet clothes we were still in so off we went......got camped up.......dry clothes, pizza, hot water bottles and bed.
